Interactive Math Activity - Subtracting 10 or 100 from Any Number

Here's a fun, interactive math game you can try out with your second graders to practice subtracting ten or one hundred from any number. Students will put their subtraction skills to the test by becoming familiar with mentally subtracting ten or one hundred from a given number 100 through 900. By the time your students complete this interactive subtraction game, they will have gained confidence and proficiency with subtracting ten or one hundred from any number!

Children will be challenged to solve a variety of subtraction problems in this second grade math lesson. Here are a few sample questions you can expect from this I Know It activity: "971 – 10 =" "Subtract 100 from 707," and "801 – 100 =" If students need a little extra help solving a subtraction problem, they can click on the "Hint" button. The hint will provide a written and/or pictorial clue that will point students in the right direction without giving away the answer. When students get an answer wrong, a detailed explanation page will appear, displaying the right answer accompanied by an easy-to-understand explanation. Students will progress through this math activity having learned from earlier mistakes.

This online subtraction activity comes equipped with several built-in features that help children make the most out of their math practice session. A speaker icon in the upper-left corner of the practice screen indicates the read-aloud feature. Students can click this button to have the question read out loud to them in a clear voice. This is a great option for ESL/ELL students and children who excel with auditory learning. A progress-tracker, opposite, shows students how many questions they have left to answer in their practice session. A score-tracker beneath that shows students how many points they have earned so far for correct answers. Every feature in the I Know It math lessons is designed with your students' math achievement in mind.
